YouTube a PR dream for Obama – a nightmare for John McCain

In PR land  if there was  to be a high noon between Obama and McCain the quickest shot would be Barack  Obama.  His public relations and marketing team is a class apart and very very quick on the draw.

Take as an example the the McCain interview with Politico in Las Cruces, N.M which is a nightmare  public relations moment for John McCain.   When asked how many houses he owned John McCain said   “I think — I’ll have my staff get to you”

Boom he was gone.

The correct answer is he owns at  least four houses , located in Arizona, California and Virginia and  Newsweek has  estimated with condo; etc he owns at least seven properties.

Now news is starting to surface that about the spending habits of the McCain’s.  Apparently (“Cindy McCain charged as much as $500,000 in a single month on one American Express card and $250,000 on another”)

All  this against the backdrop that apparently McCain’s passion is “wasteful spending “.

As a Canadian with little understanding of American politics how can someone oversee the housing crisis when he doesn’t have any day-to-day concerns about his own mortgage? Or mortgages, as the case may be? How can this person set tax rates for the middle class? All of that is implied, I suppose…

Go figure…

Brothers and sisters in PR … make sure you .. very  quickly – YouTube:

This was posted in less than 2 hrs  after the story broke. Obama’s  team is fast.

Barack Obama’s team gets it.

Hillary Clinton, Rocky Balboa and Barak Obama

hvsb.jpg

Today Hillary Clinton compared herself to Rocky Balboa in that classic movie “ROCKY”. Addressing a meeting of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Tuesday, the former first lady and New York senator said she, like Rocky, wasn’t a quitter. She said “When it comes to finishing a fight, Rocky and I have a lot in common. I never quit.”

Two things really came home. Hilary Clinton knows at last that she is against the ropes and she is finally realigning the Hillary Clinton brand. It may be to late for brand alignment. But good luck Hillary. You know you are the underdog by comparing herself to Rocky Balboa. Here is my advice Hilary come out swinging but don’t go toe to  toe  as Rocky did . Thats a losing strategy. Be aggressive, align yourself quickly , set a new agenda and command the media.

This ding dong battle between Hilary Clinton and Barak Obama is a study in branding, Public Relations and marketing. Barak Obama has done very well. It seems Hillary Clinton has misread her audience and will potentially lose the race.

My advice rise up above the underdog and swing as a victor. Drop this underdog stuff.

“Memory Almost Full” and Spin

sirpaul.jpg

BBC reports that fans of Sir Paul McCartney have been claiming a track on his latest album Memory Almost Full is about his break-up from ex-wife Heather Mills. I have a question does it matter if Paul McCartney latest album “Memory Almost Full” is about his break-up from ex-wife Heather Mills. Nope it does not matter as the BBC noted . The case is closed and the BBC is having a media moment.
And this is a marketing moment 🙂

Case closed unless you have comments.
