HAS HILLARY CLINTON’S BRAND ENDED?

Hillary Clinton is instantly recognizable and has tons and tons of experience. But she is sliding. Imagine being her adviser. As any good brand strategist you would weight her brand equity against her performance.

What to do?. Do you bet the farm on her equity, hope for the best and plow in more money or do you change her path entirely and change her brand. You have nothing to lose Hillary your brand is not resonating. Seems to me Barack  Obama has resonated with the public.  Hillary take a few cues from him. Step out of it and redefine yourself. Remember what Cadillac did and how they changed their frumpy image?. They stepped out of the past and repositioned themselves and they won.
Unlike Seth Godin  who  in an article  “Sunk costs, quitting and the value of your brand” said you should quit. I believe  he got it wrong. You have equity in spades cash it in with  change.

Go for it.

TOM TELL ME IT AINT SO..

Tom Waits as a singer and as a “Brand” carries huge stock for me. He was my voice of brutal honesty. Man the guy wears life in his face, voice and protest.

Tom tell me it ain’t true that you produced a dog food commercial for Purina.

Dude in my opinion your brand took a hit but I don’t doubt the “kaching was good”. Tell me it ain’t so Tom. Tell me

Did his brand take a hit?? Let me know.

Global Happiness Day- Did you grab the opportunity???

hands-of-faith.jpg

As reported in the Times.com and on TRonTR it seems this Friday and the next few days have something for everyone. No believer of any sort will be left without his or her own holiday. In what is statistically, at least, a once-in-a-millennium combination, the following will all occur this Friday. How is that for a marketing opportunity. I haven’t seen anyone use it but you would think that the global brands would be tripping over themselves. Especially so in cosmopolitan, multi ethnic cities like Toronto and New York where the rainbow of faiths are so huge . Did any one do anything ???.

Marketers here was the opportunity of a lifetime.

The Opportunity was/is:

Purim, a Jewish festival celebrating the biblical book of Esther
Narouz, the Persian New Year, which is observed with Islamic elaboration in Iran and all the “stan” countries, as well as by Zoroastrians and Baha’is.
Eid Milad an Nabi, the Birth of the Prophet, which is celebrated by some but not all Sunni Muslims and, though officially beginning on Thursday, is often marked on Friday.
Small Holi, Hindu, an Indian festival of bonfires, to be followed on Saturday by Holi, a kind of Mardi Gras.
Magha Puja, a celebration of the Buddha’s first group of followers, marked primarily in Thailand.

Keep me posted.

Calculating your carbon footprint is not hard. There are hundreds of websites that offer calculators and some even offer ways to offset your sins. Kind of like the church. Its neutral and its up to you to make the difference. In the future that may not be left up to you.

The International Herald Tribune reports in its Blog the Business of Green” that there is a British movement “CRAG”, or a Carbon Rationing Action Group based in Islington, North London which has started a radically different different movement. They hold each other to account!. This may be be the birth of a trend.
Read the article and let me know if you think this will work in North America . Also check out your own carbon footprint. In North America. try the EPA’s calculator. Then there is the “COOLCLIMATE CALCULATOR” offered up by Berkley.
